Parks and Recreation Directors - check your mail! RRS has mailed the annual NC Municipal and County Parks and Recreation Services Study (MCPRSS) survey.
The 2008-09 study focus is salaries. The data collected from the salary study is the most requested information by parks and recreation professionals. The results are typically used by directors for comparative salary studies to improve staff pay. Other important data collected each year is a departmental budget analysis and per capita spending summarized by region and population served. Lastly, we are requesting information concerning revenue and partnerships.
For more information or to download results of previous studies, visit our MCPRSS webpage.

Recent research suggests that exercise is more beneficial - leading to enhanced tranquility and more relief of anxiety and depression - when it occurs in natural settings, like parks and nature preserves, rather than along urban streets. This opportunity for so-called "green exercise" is just one important aspect of our parks and nature preserves.
