Stacy Tomas joins PRTM as the sustainable tourism extension specialist. Her research focuses on consumer behavior and tourism marketing, with special interests in the areas of visual quality, service quality, and tourist satisfaction. Additionally, she is interested in the development and sustainability of rural tourism as well as identifying and understanding the impacts of tourism. She is currently involved in research to examine the impact of visual environments on tourists' perceptions of destination quality and anticipated satisfaction. She recently completed a research project which examined the economic impact of tourist visitation to state parks on the Texas economy. The findings were reported to the Texas Legislature during the 2003 session. She has presented other research findings at national conferences for park and recreation administration, and has published in the Journal of Park and Recreation Administration and Managing Leisure.
