Aug 31 2007 – The Conifer Translational Genomics Network is a project aimed at increasing the efficiency of tree breeding by bringing maker-based breeding to practical application for our conifer tree breeding cooperatives. This $6,000,000 grant, awarded from the USDA CSREES-NRI to the University of California – Davis, is to support a multi-institutional / multi-agency collaborative effort that will cover applied research, training, and extension in modern plant breeding technologies over the next 5 years.
The NCSU Cooperative Tree Improvement Program will play a major role in the execution of key grant objectives. Our partnership with industry, state and federal agencies, and other academic institutions played a major role in establishing our position within the grant.
